We closed the cabin this past weekend and were very lucky to have unseasonably gorgeous weather! Leaf color was at peak in St. Lawrence County and I managed to shoot a few photos. We drove two vehicles up because we were bringing two recliners to replace an old over stuffed chair so we needed the […]

There are hints of fall up at Black Lake and even around here in Chenango County, further south, there are more subtle hints that fall is just around the corner.

Even though McClear’s in Black Lake, is clear across the other side of the lake from our cabin, it’s still worth an occasional visit for us, for icecream and grub, and if we are already on that side of the lake it’s a good place to use the […]

Here are my boys having a good laugh about something, Labor Day Weekend out on the boat. Both boys seem to have gone past adolescent acne and are sporting golden tans to boot.

I happened to be driving, (or rather my 16 year old son with new permit in tow was driving!) past the Lebanon Reservoir that I posted about previously so I took a few photos to let you see.
View From The Bridge
Of course my son driving reminds me that I need to get many online car […]

Had the weather been a little more cooperative, we may have made it all the way down to the Oswegatchie River but it looked threatening so we only went about half way down the lake. Bear in mind Black Lake is 22 miles long.
The water level is so high now because of the rain that […]

Lebanon Reservoir is a small lake in the town of Lebanon in Madison County, that provides some good fishing and recreation. There is no restriction on boat size here. Many lakeside residents live here year round but there are some seasonal camps here as well as a public campground. We have fished, tubed and water […]

Black Lake has Pike, Crappie, Large and Small Mouth Bass, Muskellunge (a very odd looking fish) and Walleye as well as pan fish such as Blue Gills and Yellow Perch. The Bass fishing season opened last Saturday but it looked like there were less fishermen on the water than usual. Perhaps this was because of […]

Blue Mountain overlooks the road in the distance as we leave the quaint Adirondack town which houses a museum filled with exhibits of Adirondack lore and history. This area is famous for hiking, boating, camping, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing.
While we were in town we were met by the Blue Mountain Lake greeting committee.
Some lake views […]

Black Lake is a much overlooked gem in St. Lawrence County. It’s basically a large swelling of the Indian River located between Hammond and Ogdensberg. It’s about 22 miles long and dotted with islands and bays. This is what makes it so interesting and special. You can take your boat right up to an island […]

Eighth Lake is part of the Fulton chain of lakes in the Adirondacks. The Eighth Lake campground is on the eastern shore of Eighth Lake, in the Adirondacks. The lake is about 300 acres and has some sandy beech areas. I like this campground because it is a well forested area with a certain […]

Plymouth Reservoir is located in the town of Plymouth, formerly called Franklinville, in Chenango County. Plymouth has a population of about 2,000 and was first settled in 1794 by the French. There are many seasonal homes and camps here used by hunters, boaters and snow mobilers.
I was at the reservoir today and took a […]
