Choose Your Transportation Wisely
In Upstate New York especially in the more rural areas you need a good 4 wheel drive vehicle if you want to be able tackle all terrains around here. In our case we have one front wheel drive small commuter car, one truck for farm, firewood and building chores and one 4 x 4 sport utility. There are many seasonal roads here that are fun to drive down but in the winter they are not maintained and in the other seasons, spring runoff can create some interesting ruts that only a 4 wheel drive truck/SUV will handle. So if you plan on moving up this way, look carefully at the vehicles you choose to bring or buy. This is my baby. It has a few fancy options added like side window vents and a front bug guard. I didn’t get car spoilers because I didn’t like the ones that were available for this car.

I live in seattle and the winter times it’s pretty bad as well. Both rain and snow, you will need good winter tires. I am planning to buy a sport utility vehicle as my family is getting larger…
