The Other Half of Black Lake

Had the weather been a little more cooperative, we may have made it all the way down to the Oswegatchie River but it looked threatening so we only went about half way down the lake. Bear in mind Black Lake is 22 miles long.

Black Lake

The water  level is so high now because of the rain that we barely made it under the Edwardsville Bridge.  This was the farthest we have gone past the bridge. We saw a beautiful farm right above the lake about 15 minutes slow cruise.

Black Lake

The lesser traveled part of Black Lake goes all the way to the Oskegatchie River and then on to Ogdensberg.  More about the Oskegatchie in a later post and hopefully some photos if we ever get that far this year.

The weather has definitely put a damper (pun intended) on all our lake activities this year.

  1. Those are some great pics of the lake, but I’m sorry the weather didn’t comply with your plans for lake activities.

  2. The pictures are absolutely beautiful. I assume you have quite a large boat not to fit under the bridge?

  3. Thanks.

  4. […] you’ve been reading this blog awhile you know that we spend a lot of time at our cabin in Black Lake. We found this lake purely by accident when I was looking for a place to go on vacation with our […]

  5. The people that run the union do not work in the plants, they are professional union organizers. They make lots of money off of the common people who do the work. There are many things that could help the members, but it is like voting for president you don’t really get to choose. The members don’t have much control over the national officers, and not much more over their local officers.Yes the UAW could do more to help its members if those members could move the organization. It is like the local PTA having influence with the school board, it doesn’t happen.

  6. The pictures are mesmerizing , they have inspired me to make m next vacation there. More information about it would be appreciated.

  7. Like the scenery.
